What is a digital badge?
A digital badge is a digital representation of an individual’s achievements and are designed to be easily shareable and verifiable. Digital badges communicate the following:
- who earned a badge,
- what criteria were met, and
- who issued the badge
An open digital badge allows others to see and verify this information. South à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã State University has partnered with to provide you with a secure and verifiable digital credential that highlights your skills.

Here is an example of what the South à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã State University digital badges may look like. The shape and color may vary depending upon the type and level of the credential earned.

Who can earn a badge?
SDSU's current focus for digital badges will be current students as well as faculty and staff. As we grow and develop our offerings, digital credentials may be open to a wider population.
How can I earn a badge?
Step 1: Review the digital credential opportunities available.
Step 2: Complete the program or co-curricular activity associated with the digital badge.
Step 3: Once you've earned your badge, you will be sent an email from our badge provider and partner, Credly. Included will be information on how to establish your profile page, badge wallet, and to claim and share your badge.
Step 4: If you choose, you can "share" your badge on social media sites or place your badge on your digital resume or portfolio.
Is there a fee for claiming and sharing my badge?
No, there is no fee associating with storing, managing and sharing your digital credentials.
