
Amy Newstrom
Clinical Assistant Professor (Rapid City)
Biography
Dr. Newstrom holds a bachelor’s degree in human biology from the University of Montana, a bachelor’s degree in nursing from SDSU, a master’s degree in counseling and nursing from SDSU, a post-master’s certificate in psychiatric mental health nursing and a Doctor of Nursing Practice from SDSU. She is a licensed counselor in the state of South à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã, and a licensed and board-certified family and psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. Dr. Newstrom has provided mental healthcare in both inpatient and outpatient settings. She has provided treatments using transcranial magnetic stimulation and ketamine. She currently works in a private clinic in Rapid City while teaching in the Counseling Human Resources and Development and Psychiatric Mental Health Graduate Nursing Programs through SDSU. She was the recipient of the 2019 State Excellence in Nursing à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã from the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and is an active member of the Nurse Practitioner Association of South à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã.
