Biography
Dr. Chris Chase, professor, Department of Veterinary and Biomedical Sciences, South à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã State University is a native of Sisseton, South à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã and attended SDSU. He was an associate at the Viborg Veterinary Clinic, Viborg, South à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã, for five years and continued his active involvement in clinical veterinary medicine for 25 years.Dr. Chase's research has been directed at understanding the initial events of viral infections to develop better methods for preventing virus infections in à£à£Ö±²¥Ðãs. He also has applied the tools of molecular biology to developing better methods of detecting disease producing organisms. He also has an interest in the emerging diseases of wildlife origin. His clinical experience is with dairy, cow-calf, feedlot and hog herd health. He is the past president of the South à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã Veterinary Medical Association, American Association of Veterinary Immunologists and past chair of the AVMA Council of Biologics and Therapeutic Agents (COBTA). He also is past president of the American College of Veterinary Microbiologists and the Conference for Research Workers in Animal Disease. He was the South à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã Veterinary Medical Association Veterinarian of the Year in 2009 and received the SDVMA Distinguished Service award in 2022. He also received the FO Butler Excellence in Research à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã in 2010 and Outstanding Leadership in Undergraduate Research in 2011 from SDSU. Dr. Chase obtained emeritus status in 2024 and is still active in teaching and research at SDSU.
Dr. Chase co-founded RTI (Research, Technology Innovation) LLC., an à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã health contract research organization in 1994. RTI is now ClinVet-South à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã and is part of ClinGlobal Family of Companies. Dr. Chase is the chief scientific officer for ClinVet-South à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã. Besides contract research with international à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã health companies, ClinVet-South à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã also markets diagnostic reagents worldwide.
