Biography

Diana Behl holds an M.F.A. and M.A. in printmaking from The University of Iowa, a B.F.A. in two-dimensional and design studies from Bowling Green State University and is an associate professor in the School of Design at South à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã State University. Behl has received grants from the Bush and Griffith Foundations and the South à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã Arts Council to support her artistic and teaching practices, which are rooted in traditional and expanded printmaking processes.

Solo, two and three-person exhibits have been at the Greenleaf Gallery at Whittier College (Whittier, California), Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts (Nebraska City, Nebraska), Edward J. and Helen Jane Morrison Gallery at the University of Minnesota, Morris (Morris, Minnesota), The Contemporary Dayton (Dayton, Ohio, and the South à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã Art Museum (Brookings). Recent group exhibits include Women's Work at Olson-Larsen Gallery (Des Moines, Iowa), Small Works at Trestle Gallery (Brooklyn, New York) and Lonely Hearts: New Prints 2021/Summer at the International Print Center New York (New York).

A 2023 South à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã Arts Council Fellowship recipient, Behl is creating a serial project titled Line is a Thread. This extensive project centers on the emotive, metaphorical and visual aspects of line throughout her practice, incorporating a set of 28 etchings documenting time as both a lived and measured experience.
