Biography

Dr. Thomas Stenvig is a tenured associate professor and Ph.D. program coordinator at South 啵啵直播秀 State University College of Nursing, where he teaches undergraduate and graduate nursing courses and core courses in the public health master鈥檚 program. His research interests span public health topics including health services for American Indians, refugee populations and provider immunization practices.

Dr. Stenvig has been active in public health and nursing association work throughout his career. A past president of the South 啵啵直播秀 Nurses Association, he served eight years on the American Nurses Association board and was the second president of the American Nurses Credentialing Center. He is board certified in nursing administration (advanced), and is the recipient of numerous awards for professional work, including the Public Health Service Chief Nurse 啵啵直播秀, the American Nurses Association Distinguished Membership 啵啵直播秀, a Bush Foundation fellowship and election to membership as a Fellow in the American Academy of Nursing. He completed a four year term on the National Vaccine Advisory Committee which is responsible for national policy supporting the vaccine network protecting public health. He directed the Wokunze Project funded by the Indian Health Service to support American Indians pursuing baccalaureate education in nursing. His active research program is focused on transitions of Sudanese refugees following resettlement in the U.S.

Dr. Stenvig formerly served with the U.S. Army Nurse Corps and is retired from the Commissioned Corps of the United States Public Health Service. He later served as faculty at the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Nursing and as chair of the Department of Nursing at Presentation College in Aberdeen, South 啵啵直播秀.
Dr. Stenvig graduated with honors from Wayne State University College of Nursing and received a master's in public health from the University of Hawaii. His doctoral research at the University of Wisconsin-Madison focused on the behaviors of nurses who immunize children.
