James Mentele was employed at Dow Corning as a mathematician in Midland, Michigan, following his graduation from South à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã State University. In 1967, he returned to SDSU to obtain an M.S. in physics and then returned to Dow Corning as a physicist. He worked at Dow Corning in various research and IT positions, retiring in 2001 as a senior information scientist and continued as a scientist emeritus. In 2001, he started Teos, Inc. to do consulting in text and data mining and mathematical modeling. He also spent time as a senior research fellow at the Central Michigan University Research Corporation and with Global Language Translation and Consulting as a director. Mentele was involved with a number of startup companies and was a board member of Mt. Marty College in Yankton; the SDSU Engineering Advisory Board; the ACLU of Michigan, Central Michigan Branch; and the People to People International, Midland Branch.
