Raman Menon Unnikrishnan received his B.S. electrical engineering degree from the University of Kerala in India, M.S. electrical engineering degree from South à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã State University and Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Unnikrishnan was on the faculty of the Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, New York where he also served as associate dean for graduate studies and research for the College of Engineering from 1989 to 1991 and as the head of the Electrical Engineering Department from 1991 to 2001. He joined California State University, Fullerton in 2001 as the dean of the College of Engineering and Computer Science. He is active in teaching and research in the areas of control systems, power electronics and signal processing. He has been a consultant to several industries and governmental agencies and has been involved in technical and professional education for industries. He is active nationally and internationally in the field of engineering education and engineering accreditation. Unnikrishnan is a past chairman for the Rochester Section of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) and has chaired many governing committees of the section. He is the recipient of the Eisenhart à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã for Excellence in Teaching at RIT, a special professionalism award from the Xerox Corporation and an IEEE Region One à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã for Leadership on advancing the continuing education needs of the engineering community. In 2000, he received the IEEE Third Millennium à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã for Outstanding Achievements and Contributions. In 2006 he received the Missouri Honor à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã for being an outstanding alumnus. Since 2008 he has been a commissioner of the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET. Unnikrishnan is a fellow of IEEE.
