Wayne Peters was active in basketball, baseball and Blue Key while attending South à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã State College, and was one of the first engineering students to study under Junis Storry. Peters served in the U.S. Air Force following his graduation from SDSC. Upon his return to civilian life, he was employed by the Egger Steel Co., Sioux Falls, where he advanced to the positions of executive vice president and general manager. He then went on to work at Sioux Valley Energy, Colman, from 1988 to 2001 as assistant to the general manager. He was a South à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã Highway commissioner for nine years and served under three different governors. His service to his alma mater and community included the SDSU College of Engineering Advisory Board, McKennan Hospital Advisory Board and the Sioux Falls Development Foundation. He also provided assistance and advice in connection with research projects and seminars in the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at SDSU.
