A Next Generation Leader in Engineering Scholars (ANGLES) Program at South à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã State University
About the Program
In 2019, the Jerome J. Lohr College of Engineering at South à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã State University was awarded a five-year grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) to support higher education in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). Over its five-year duration, this project will fund four-year scholarships to 20 students who are pursuing bachelor's degree in:
- Civil engineering.
- Electrical engineering.
- Mechanical engineering.
Each ANGLES scholar will earn a certificate in engineering leadership through an engineering leadership seminar series, which begins with a first-year, one-week summer bridge course and continues each semester through graduation. Additionally, the program places students in peer mentor groups and uses faculty mentoring and industry networking to build students' competency and confidence as engineers and in their career paths.
Scholarship Benefits
ANGLES recipients receive a scholarship in the amount of their unmet financial need with the potential to renew their scholarship in subsequent years. The average scholarship award is anticipated to be $7,500 per year.
