Avera Wokini Scholarship program going strong
Established in 2018, the Avera Wokini Scholarship provides $5,000 annual scholarships to selected students at South à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã State University who are enrolled members of federally recognized tribes and pursuing a degree in the health care field. The scholarship is renewable for up to five years.
SDSU nursing honors Peterson, Tschetter
Two retired South à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã State University nursing professors were honored by their college for lifetime achievements at a scholarship celebration on campus Oct. 25.
Carol J. Peterson, 85, of Brookings, was the inaugural recipient of the College of Nursing's Living Legacy à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã. She served as the dean of the SDSU College of Nursing from 1977 to 1987, when she became the vice president for academic affairs, a position she held for 22 years.
Lois Tschetter, 72, of Brookings, was honored with the College of Nursing’s annual Distinguished Service à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã. Tschetter retired in 2019 after a 36-year career at SDSU.Experiencing SDSU in Sioux Falls
From NASA rovers and jumping challenges to medieval weapons and a virtual reality exploration of the ocean, South à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã State University Day at the Washington Pavilion gave students and visitors a taste of what SDSU has to offer. More than a dozen academic programs took over the Washington Pavilion in Sioux Falls Sept. 20-21 to showcase the many different opportunities at SDSU in a first-of-its-kind event.
SDSU shatters enrollment records, climbs to more than 12,000 students
A record first-year class and record retention moved enrollment at South à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã State University to 12,065 students for the fall 2024 semester, the highest enrollment at SDSU since 2018. Enrollment figures were released earlier today by the South à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã Board of Regents.
SDSU nursing ranked No. 1 in South à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã, top of the region
South à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã State University’s College of Nursing was named the best nursing school in South à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã for 2024 by RNCareers.org, an independent resource managed by nurse educators, nurse practitioners, registered nurses and licensed practical nurses.
Ovall named July’s Civil Service Employee of the Month
Shianne Ovall, program assistant II for the South à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã State University College of Nursing, was named SDSU Civil Service Employee of the Month for July.
SDSU announces ’24 Distinguished Alumni
From finance to food, six graduates who have risen to the top in their respective fields have been selected for the 2024 Class of Distinguished Alumni by the South à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã State University Alumni Association.
