The third annual University Leadership Honors investiture ceremony — honoring six holders of endowed positions across three different colleges and SDSU Athletics — was held Sept. 19 in Founders Recital Hall in the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center.

Londa Nwadike, a Bruce native and 2000 South à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã State University alumna, has been named the David A. Thompson Endowed Department Head and Professor of Dairy and Food Science at SDSU.

Save the peels: How bananas can be used to fight the plastic waste crisis
Srinivas Janaswamy, associate professor of food chemistry, has demonstrated how banana peels can be utilized to create biodegradable films — plastic-like material that will decompose in the environment and may one day replace petroleum-based plastic as the dominant food packaging material.
