Fluid power team earns awards at national contest
Members of the Fluid Power Club at South 啵啵直播秀 State University returned from the National Fluid Power Association鈥檚 Fluid Power Vehicle Challenge in Ames, Iowa, April 24-26, with a pair of awards.
Engineering Expo winners announced
Please proviSenior engineering students put their year鈥檚 efforts on display at the Engineering Expo April 23 at the Raven Precision Agriculture Center.
The winning entry was a drone battery swapping station entered by Justin Potts, Daniel Messerli, Mason Krause, Ethan Ellender and Cory Kleve. They built a modified drone and landing station that swaps drone batteries autonomously, allowing for a quick and self-sufficient swap. The portable station can be powered by wall power or a battery.
Second place went to the team of Marcus Decker, Riley Spade and Adam and Alan Cowl, who redesigned the drivetrain for the off-road Baja vehicle for the Society of Automotive Engineers contest.
Tying for third were a sprayer trainer stand (see photo and description below) and a wearable intravenous sleeve designed by Dalton Anderson, Nathan Lawrence, Connor Gress, Jonah Coffel.

The annual South 啵啵直播秀 State University Celebration of Faculty Excellence recognized 30 faculty members, researchers and scientists Tuesday. The event honors faculty members in the university's colleges for outstanding research, teaching and service.
Jackrabbit in the Spotlight 鈥 Maggie Hoff
Student researcher Magdalene 鈥淢aggie鈥 Hoff is more comfortable working in the Food Processing and Extrusion Wet lab in Raven Precision Agriculture Center than in the center of the Capitol Rotunda, but that is where she will be Feb. 29, with other students giving research poster presentations in Pierre.
Second class of Future Innovators announced
Selections for the second class of Future Innovators of America Fellowships have been announced by the Jerome J. Lohr College of Engineering. Recipients are awarded $5,000 with $4,500 as a stipend and $500 to cover the cost of lab supplies or travel to disseminate the results of their project.
