Plant Cell and Molecular Biology Research Excellence Cluster
Agriculture in the 21stcentury faces multiple challenges:
- The growing world population needs to be fed on smaller arable land resources.
- Agricultural productivity is threatened by various stress factors.
- More feedstocks have to be produced for a growing bioenergy market.
- There is the need to develop agricultural production methods that are more sustainable and can adapt to climate change.
The faculty in the Plant Cell and Molecular Biology PCMB Research Excellence cluster work diligently to address these challenges. Members in this group are highly innovative, striving to create sustainable solutions to improve plant, human and environmental health. Our faculty is committed to train and collaborate with undergraduate and graduate students and postdoctoral researchers, and provide them with the skills to be successful in their future careers in the biotechnological industry, scientists in industry, academia, extension and federal laboratories. Their research is supported by federal and local funding agencies as well as industry partners.
