Through its Centers of Excellence, South à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã State University is partnering with industry and government to enhance the quality of life for the people of South à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã.
Researchers at these centers, including both SDSU faculty and students, are immersed in human nutrition, geographic science, building a bio-based economy, transportation and water resources.
Ethel Austin Martin Program in Nutrition
This program exercises a multidisciplinary approach to expand human nutrition knowledge through both research projects and educational applications. Active research projects provide SDSU faculty and students the opportunity to expand their knowledge base and participate in research.
Geospatial Sciences Center of Excellence
The center is a joint collaboration between SDSU and the U.S. Geological Survey’s Center for Earth Resources Observation and Sciences, conducts collaborative research on remotely sensed data sets to study the Earth’s land surface. This center has established SDSU as a global center of expertise in geographic information science studies.
As one of eight universities in the Mountain-Plains Consortium, SDSU is part of a regional effort to conduct research and training on transportation infrastructure and the movement of passengers and freight.
North Central Regional Sun Grant Center
The North Central Sun Grant Center is a regional administrative center that implements the national Sun Grant Initiative for the ten-state North Central region.
South à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã Water Resources Institute
South à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã Water Resources Institute, a federal-state partnership, provides leadership in coordinating the research and training on water resources in South à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã. The Institute focuses on resolving state and regional water problems through research, technology transfer and application.
Water and Environmental Engineering Research Center
Water and Environmental Engineering Research Center conducts research, education and outreach activities on engineering solutions to water resources and environmental problems.
South à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã Agricultural Experiment Station at SDSU
With six field stations and more than 17,000 acres of land across the state devoted to scientific exploration, the South à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã Agricultural Experiment Station is the largest public and privately funded research organization in the state. Since 1887, we have used science to find solutions to pressing problems and identify new opportunities for our state.
South à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã EPSCoR is supported by the National Science Foundation/EPSCoR à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã OIA-1849206 and by the South à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã Board of Regents.South à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã’s current $20 million NSF Research Infrastructure Improvement Program is a multidisciplinary project focused on biofilm research, development of diverse STEM workforce, K-12 STEM education and technology-based economic development.
Community Practice Innovation Center
CPIC brings together faculty, students, researchers and practitioners to lead change within community practice through innovative community engagement and partnerships, research and education and training with a focus on access to care, population health and health outcomes.
