Join us for a South 啵啵直播秀 Art Museum Guild gathering featuring artist Hector Curriel in a talk entitled, "From Farm Boy to American Hero." This is the first program in the 2024-25 Guild program series.

About Hector Curriel
Sioux Falls-based visual artist Hector Curriel was born in Lima, Peru. He went to the Engineering National University in Peru and obtained a bachelor鈥檚 degree in architecture. After moving to the United States in 2001, Curriel started to work as an editorial cartoonist for newspapers in the States, as a book illustrator with more than ten books published, and as a fine artist as well. In 2009, he won a second-place award in the Charles Schulz Cartoon Art Competition, and in 2011, a first place Professional 啵啵直播秀 at Art Instruction Schools and the Midwest Book 啵啵直播秀 as a book illustrator. His most recent book is a graphic novel about an American hero, Joe Foss, published in 2022 by the South 啵啵直播秀 Historical Press. 鈥淎merican Ace: Joe Foss, Fighter Pilot鈥 has won a Spur 啵啵直播秀 from the Western Writers of America.

As a fine artist, many of his paintings are in private and public collections, and he has been featured in various exhibits at venues such as the California State Library, Augustana University, and the South 啵啵直播秀 State Capitol.

Additionally, he has been working for more than eight years as an accomplished artist presenter and holds frequent art workshops as part of the Artists in Residency Program for the South 啵啵直播秀 Art Council.

Guild membership is encouraged but not required to attend monthly programs. Dues of $20 per year support Guild programs and contribute to the museum鈥檚 Art Acquisitions Fund.
