Graduate School Specific Policies

Policy 2:17 - Credit Requirements for Graduate Credential Programs 

This policy sets forth the guidelines establishing the minimum number of credit hours required for graduate programs in accordance with SDBOR policy and aids program officials when proposing new graduate programs or modifying existing programs.

Policy 2:18 - Publication Delays for Theses and Dissertations 

This policy and its procedures establish the protocols for university acceptance of theses and dissertations for degree requirements along with a corresponding agreement for their delayed publication in order to facilitate the protection of valuable intellectual property rights and provide opportunities for self-publication while facilitating academic freedom and access to scholarly works.

Policy 2:19 - Graduate Assistants and Fellows 

This policy and its procedures designate the standards applicable to graduate assistantships and graduate fellowships to ensure conformity with SDBOR policies and state and federal law.

Policy 2:26 - Graduate Student Admission and Progression 

This policy establishes the criteria, timeline requirements and processes for: 1) admission into the graduate school; 2) progression through a graduate program; and 3) receiving the degree or credential via graduation processes.

Policy 2:27 - Graduate Faculty and Graduate Student Advisory Committee

This policy and its procedures describe who may receive the privilege and serve as a Graduate Faculty member at the university and the conditions of such service in conformity with applicable SDBOR Policies and when applicable, the COHE Faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement.
