Camp Information
This is a free four-day summer camp. Food and lodging are provided. Students stay three nights on campus in college residence halls (students must get here around 9 a.m. June 23, stay in residence halls three nights, present their work on the afternoon of June 26, then head home). This camp is aimed at creating a fun and stimulating experience for current high school students in using computers to analyze data. You will learn some basic statistics and math topics and create a data science project.
- Learn basic "R" programming through examples.
- Learn statistics through activities, like analyzing claims about the number of chocolate chips in cookies.
- Choose a topic for a data science project (past topics focused on data about COVID-19, test scores, crime, video game sales and many other topics).
- Learn how to utilize artificial intelligence programs. (We have used AI to create the programming for some basic games that could run in a web browser).
- Explore campus (and get ice cream).
- Visit the Miller Wellness Center (including the climbing wall).
Please contact one of the above faculty members for questions.
See this newspaper for the camp from 2019.
