The South ��ֱ���� State University School of Performing Arts will present cultural historian Joseph Horowitz and French classical pianist Jean-Efflam Bavouzet in a lecture-recital titled “Ravel and Jazz” on Tuesday, Feb. 25, 7:30 p.m. in the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center.

The South ��ֱ���� State University School of Performing Arts and the School of American and Global Studies are partnering with the South ��ֱ���� Symphony Orchestra of Sioux Falls to present a forum titled “Music as an Instrument of Diplomacy” on Monday, Feb. 24, 7:30 p.m. in the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center.

South ��ֱ���� State University will host the In-Service Music Conference on campus Feb. 13-15. The conference will bring music educators from across the state to the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center for a series of workshops and concerts.

Theater lives by the adage “The show must go on.” But when “on” means on the road, that’s another matter, and when it is 336 miles away at the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival, that’s another matter yet. But that was the case for 28 South ��ֱ���� State University theater students when they presented at the annual event in Des Moines, Iowa, Jan. 21.

American musician, writer and speaker Dessa will share her inspiration as a multi-disciplinary artist when she delivers the Harding Distinguished Lecture on Jan. 23 at the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center. The artist will also share her appreciation for the far-reaching impact of the liberal arts, humanities and social sciences at the 6 p.m. event in Founders Recital Hall on the South ��ֱ���� State University campus.

South ��ֱ���� State University Theatre and Dance’s fall 2024 production of “Fuddy Meers” by David Lindsay-Abaire has been selected to be presented at the 57th annual Region 5 Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival Conference in Des Moines, Iowa, on Jan. 21. To help defray the costs of taking the production to Des Moines, a one-night-only fundraising performance of the show will be presented at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, at the Oscar Larson Theatre in the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center on the SDSU campus.

A Papillion La Vista teacher and South ��ֱ���� State University School of Performing Arts graduate has received the Omaha Manilow Music Project Teacher ��ֱ����. Hiltje Peitz received the award, along with a $10,000 prize, in July.

The South ��ֱ���� State University School of Design is hosting a new alumni gallery exhibit, “Now and Then,” in the Ritz Gallery in Grove Hall on the SDSU campus. The solo exhibition features the work of art educator Michael Aasness, who is the grades 6-12 art instructor at Sioux Valley School District in Volga.

The South ��ֱ���� Art Museum and Brookings Arts Council invite visitors to their final Community Art Day of the year on Saturday, Dec. 7. This free event will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the South ��ֱ���� Art Museum, located at 1036 Medary Ave. in Brookings.

The South ��ֱ���� State University School of Performing Arts presents the A/B Duo on Monday, Nov. 25, at 7:30 p.m. at the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center.
