From NASA rovers and jumping challenges to medieval weapons and a virtual reality exploration of the ocean, South ��ֱ���� State University Day at the Washington Pavilion gave students and visitors a taste of what SDSU has to offer. More than a dozen academic programs took over the Washington Pavilion in Sioux Falls Sept. 20-21 to showcase the many different opportunities at SDSU in a first-of-its-kind event.

Former South ��ֱ���� State University football player and entrepreneurial studies major Tommy Hopp will return to campus Oct. 2 for the Ness School of Management and Economics’ 2024 Emerging Entrepreneur in Residence program.

South ��ֱ���� State University Theatre and Dance will kick off its 2024-25 season with the wonky comedy “Fuddy Meers.”

The South ��ֱ���� Art Museum at South ��ֱ���� State University will celebrate the immersive exhibition of “Anila Quayyum Agha: Shadows and Splendor” with a day of programming on Saturday, Sept. 28. Agha will host a fine arts workshop on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. (registration required) and a free, public reception and artist talk from 5-7 p.m.

Jackrabbits in all 50 states and across 15 countries united to tackle historic philanthropy on Sept. 5 during One Day for STATE.

The South ��ֱ���� Cattlemen’s Foundation was honored recently as the 2024 recipient of the South ��ֱ���� State University Friend of the Beef Industry award for its contributions to the South ��ֱ���� beef industry.

Selective highlights from Peggy Miller's years as president of South ��ֱ���� State University in 1998 to 2006. • Led SDSU through an arduous study that culminated with the school moving to Division I athletics as of the 2004-05 school year.

Former SDSU President Peggy Miller joined a group of nine other people to be inducted into the South ��ֱ���� Hall of Fame at ceremonies in Chamberlain Sept. 13-14. Miller, who served as SDSU’s 18th president from Jan. 1, 1998, to Dec. 31, 2006, became only the third out of the land-grant university’s 20 presidents to be inducted into the South ��ֱ���� Hall of Fame, joining Robert Wagner (1998) and Hilton Briggs (1980).

In preparation for South ��ֱ���� State's football home opener Saturday, Sept. 7, a few changes are being implemented for games this season at Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium.


The fall semester at South ��ֱ���� State University brings three things without fail: the return of Jackrabbits to Brookings, opportunities for campus and community connections, and the celebration of One Day for STATE. The SDSU Foundation will host the university’s eighth annual giving day on Thursday, Sept. 5. The 24-hour campaign invites Jackrabbits everywhere to join together in celebration of SDSU and the incredible impact of philanthropic giving.
