Unlock the Mysteries of the Universe to Shape Your Future!

Some breakthroughs are slight, like measuring the exact trajectory of a launched projectile. Others are monumental, like developing groundbreaking theories that explain the fundamental forces of nature. Whatever the puzzle, the world needs creative thinkers to imagine and implement solutions. At SDSU, we train and equip such thinkers to understand the fundamentals of Physics, to conduct sound research, and to tackle the challenges of our modern world.

We provide ample opportunities to experiment and discover your own unique interests. The graduate certificate in applied physics is a 12-credit certificate that provides knowledge and practical experience to have an advanced experience with health physics, nuclear physics or condensed matter physics. Be well prepared to advance in your career path in applied areas of physics, including laboratory management. The certificate will provide training in key elements for success in (materials physics track) areas of physics related to chemistry, materials science, engineering, nanotechnology, atomic physics or biophysics or (nuclear physics track) in the regulatory and management aspects of ionizing radiation, including health physics or the nuclear power industry. Complete the graduate certificate as a stand-alone credential or stacked into the professional science (M.S.).
