"Anyone who does anything to help a child in his life is a hero." - Fred Rogers

Research shows that quality care and education for young children is critically important, and the demand for qualified teachers of young children is great. A minor in early childhood education will prepare students to appropriately care for and educate young children and create programs for children and families. Students who seek to obtain a professional position that impacts young children and families will benefit from completing this minor as they will have a better understanding of children’s development, family needs and support and how to work with young children. The early childhood education minor will benefit students pursuing careers in education, nutrition and dietetics, social work, health and human services and other roles working directly and indirectly with children and families.
