Confirm Your Degree Requirements
DegreeWorks is a tool designed to assist students and their advisers to track degree progress, prepare for registration, and plan for graduation. View your academic record in DegreeWorks to identify which requirements you have met and which you still need to meet. To access your degree progress tool, log onto and search for DegreeWorks on the MyState Dashboard. Once you've taken this step, talk with your academic advisor about any unmet requirements.
Confirm your GPA.
To be awarded a baccalaureate degree, an associate degree, or a certificate you must have a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.0 or higher, depending on specific program academic requirements. A CGPA is based on all credits earned by the student, including transfer credit and Regental system credit. When a course has been repeated for credit, all attempts will be entered on the transcript, but the last grade earned will be used in the calculation of the cumulative grade point average.
Confirm your credits.
To receive an undergraduate degree from SDSU, you must earn a minimum of 120 credits. While you may transfer credit from other accredited universities or colleges, 50% of the major or minor requirements must be earned by completing SDSU courses.
Some programs require completion of more than 120 total credits. A list of those programs is included below.
Major | Credit Count |
---|---|
Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (B.S.) | 130 credits |
Agronomy (B.S.) | 125 credits |
Civil Engineering (B.S.) | 130 credits |
Early Childhood Education (B.S.) - Cooperative Elementary Education Program with DSU | 141 credits |
Electrical Engineering (B.S.) | 130 credits |
Mechanical Engineering (B.S.) | 130 credits |
Music Education (B.M.E.) | 126 credits |
Pharmaceutical Sciences (B.S.) | 138 credits |
Studio Art (B.F.A.) - Art Education Specialization | 128 credits |
Meet with your academic advisor.
Just in case you need to change your schedule, you should schedule a meeting with your academic advisor prior to or as early in the fall term as possible. During that meeting, conduct a thorough audit of completed courses, assess whether you have earned the required grades needed to meet requirements, and identify courses left to complete. You should leave that meeting with the outline of a senior year academic plan including all remaining courses.
HOLD UP!
Be sure your student account is paid in full upon graduation and you have no holds (parking, library) that would prevent you from receiving a transcript in the future. Log onto and select the SDePay link under Student Account Self-Service on your Dashboard.
