When not in use this wooden slat egg carrier will fold down flat. The corner hooks pull up and turn to collapse the carrier. Inside the carrier is four layers of cardboard separators. Each layer holds 36 eggs for a total of 144 eggs. Carriers like this one were used by farm women to transport their eggs to market. The tag attached to the corner of this carrier reads "Farmer's Cooperative Creamery, Humbolt. Return to A.L. Johnson"
