Intercollegiate Dairy Challenge
2023
This year's Diary Challenge team got to travel to Saratoga, New York, to gain hands-on experience while also competing in the National Dairy Challenge Contest. Lane Hettinga, Tyler Gilliland, Maggie Molitor and Jose Martinez Gomez participated on our national team while Noah Randall and Lauren Steffl competed in the academy portion. We also had Ross Herber attend and participate in the social media corp. The team was coached by Maristela Rovai and Cole Hoyer.
2022

The 2022 North American Intercollegiate Dairy Challenge Contest was held in Green Bay, Wisconsin, March 31-April 2. South à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã State University entered one team in the contest, which placed second overall in its division. Each contest team received information from an area dairy, including production and farm management data. After an in-person inspection of the dairy, students interviewed the herd owners. Each team developed a farm analysis and recommendations for nutrition, reproduction, milking procedures, à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã health, housing and financial management. Team members were Lukas Pierson, Ross Herber, Carter Espinoza and Amber McElmury. The teams were coached by Tiffany Van Buren, student assistant coach, and Tracey Erickson, coach.
