Albert L. Pugsley was active in band, orchestra, string quartet, ROTC and the yearbook while attending South à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã State College. He graduated from Harvard University in 1934 with an M.S. in architecture following his graduation from SDSC. While working for Davis and Wilson Architects in Lincoln, Nebraska, he designed the structures for a variety of buildings in Lincoln. He was the assistant director of Engineering, Science and Management of the War Training Program in Washington, DC, during World War II. He served at Kansas State University in Manhattan, KS, for 22 years as the assistant director of Engineering for the Experiment Station and as professor of Structural Engineering. He was appointed dean of administration and director of summer school at Youngstown State University in Ohio and went on to serve as president of that institution from 1966 to 1973 where he was instrumental in turning the school into a state institution. He received an honorary doctorate from SDSU in 1961. He was the son of the late Charles Pugsley, who served as SDSC President from 1923 to 1940.
