Spring ThumpStart

An Academic Jumpstart

All students new to SDSU for the spring semester are encouraged to join us for the ThumpStart program, to get an academic jumpstart to your first semester at State. The ThumpStart program is designed to get you ready for your spring semester. There will be time with current students to ask questions, time with academic advisors to help you learn about all the academic support structures in place to help you succeed, and a chance to get familiar with campus via a campus tour.

Join us on Friday, Jan. 10, 2025, at 1 p.m. at the University Student Union for Spring ThumpStart!

Early Move-in Option for the Residence Halls

If you will be living in the residence halls this spring semester, you can check-in early during one of the early move-in windows. You will need to complete the Late Stay/Winter Break/Early Arrival Form on MyState through your Housing Application. When completing the form, be sure to select "New Student Orientation" in the "Reason" dropdown box. Check-in will be at . Early move-in windows are as follows: Thursday (January 9) or Friday (January 10) 10 a.m.-noon or 7-9 p.m. Those attending NSO or ThumpStart will not be charged an early arrival fee. If these windows of time for early move-in to your residence hall do not work for you, please contact the Housing and Residential Life Office at 605-688-5148 to discuss alternative.

Check-in at the Union, submit a question for the student panel and enter our prize drawing.
1:15 p.m.Introduction to Life at State
Hear from fellow Jackrabbits who will give you guidance about resources and opportunities available to you at SDSU.
2 p.m.Bystander Intervention and Mental Health Information
Learn about resources in place that aim to keep all our Jackrabbits safe and comfortable while they pursue success at State.
2:45 p.m.Meet Your Academic College
Spend time with advisors to get all of your academic questions answered, including use of electronic resources, academic support systems and advising information.
3:30 p.m.Orientation Leader Tour
End the day with an Orientation Leader who will answer your questions, help you read your class schedule, and offer a tour of campus to help you identify your classroom buildings and other important locations.
