Music faculty from South ą£ą£Ö±²„Šć State University and the University of South ą£ą£Ö±²„Šć will present a recital of chamber music composed by Johannes Brahms starting at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 4, in Founders Recital Hall at the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center.
Led by pianist Mark Stevens, the recital features two of Brahmsā most famous trios in his repertoire. Joining Stevens will be violinist Immanuel Abraham and hornist Sam Gowen for the Horn Trio in E-flat major, as well as cellist Sonja Kraus and clarinetist Michael Walsh for the Clarinet Trio in A minor.
āThis concert gives audiences the opportunity to experience Brahmsā music from two angles,ā Stevens said. āThe horn trio is full of youth and exuberance, while the clarinet trio offers both the fateful and the introspective spirit of a composer at the end of his life.ā
The recital is free and open to the public. For more information, please contact the SDSU School of Performing Arts at 605-688-5187.
