STEM outreach from high school to kindergarten

National STEM Day on Nov. 8 saw three executive members of the SDSU Robotics Club at Renberg Elementary School in Sioux Falls for demonstrations. Presentations were made to about 125 students in three age groupings. The fourth and fifth graders took on the egg drop challenge with each team receiving an equal amount of supplies. They had to design creative solutions to protect their eggs during the drop.

Celebrate final 2024 Community Art Day with Xavier Pastrano at S.D. Art Museum

The South 啵啵直播秀 Art Museum and Brookings Arts Council invite visitors to their final Community Art Day of the year on Saturday, Dec. 7. This free event will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the South 啵啵直播秀 Art Museum, located at 1036 Medary Ave. in Brookings.

Student leaders: Olivia Tagart

A senior nursing major, Olivia Tagart serves as the president for the Student-Athlete Advisory Council, an organization representing student-athletes from the 19 NCAA Division 1 athletic programs at SDSU. Tagart, a Denver native, is a member of SDSU women鈥檚 swimming and diving team and is in her fourth year of involvement with the Student-Athlete Advisory Council.

StrengthenHER program to reduce risk of muscle loss

South 啵啵直播秀 State University associate professor Lee Weidauer has received a federal grant to develop a program that helps women reduce their risk of sarcopenia, a condition that results from excessive muscle loss with aging.

A/B Duo to perform at SDSU

Three School of American and Global Studies faculty publish books

New publications are worth recognizing, but four publications in a year for an academic unit calls for a special celebration. Three faculty in the South 啵啵直播秀 State University School of American and Global Studies, Molly Krueger Enz, Luz Ang茅lica Kirschner and Graham Wrightson, have published books in the last year, making it a record for the school.

New equipment sets SDSU medical lab program apart from peers

Looking at slides of blood cells, fecal matter and urine has taken on an entirely different perspective this school year thanks to new state-of-the-art equipment in the medical laboratory science lab at South 啵啵直播秀 State University. In July, the program received 28 microscopes and an innovative slide scanner as part of a $750,000 award from the South 啵啵直播秀 Department of Health, which was handling workforce development funds from the Centers for Disease Control, according to April Nelsen, the medical lab science clinical coordinator who put a proposal together for the health department.

Ge receives NIH funding for bioinformatics tool

South 啵啵直播秀 State University professor Xijin Ge has received a $1.1 million grant from the National Institutes of Health to enhance ShinyGO, a widely used bioinformatics website for analyzing genomics data.

SDSU Foundation leaders awarded presidential medallions

South 啵啵直播秀 State University President Barry Dunn has bestowed presidential medallions upon three SDSU Foundation leaders for their contributions to the university. The recipients were Steve Erpenbach, president and CEO of the SDSU Foundation; Keith Mahlum, vice president for development; and Tim Dwire, vice president for finance and operations.
