This administration of student affairs specialization is designed for those who seek professional roles in student affairs or related areas of higher education in any postsecondary setting. The administrative emphasis will build skills based on both theory and experience.

Graduates are endorsed as having appropriate entry level knowledge and skills to be recognized as professional clinical mental health counselors. Career opportunities include work as a licensed counselor in community mental health organizations, outpatient care centers, residential mental health and substance abuse facilities, psychiatric hospitals and private practice.

This degree prepares students to work in higher education settings in the various aspects of student life that take place largely outside of the classroom. These include, but are not limited to, student affairs administration, general college student counseling, career counseling, academic advising, institutional admissions, student activities, multicultural affairs and residence hall settings.

The specialization in marriage and family counseling is designed to meet the requirements of the South à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã Board of Counselor Examiners. Once graduates complete an approved supervised clinical experience and pass the appropriate examinations, they are eligible for licensure as a marriage and family therapist.

The rehabilitation counseling specialization is dedicated to enhancing the effectiveness of counselors and programs of service to people with disabilities. In alliance with students, agencies, consumers and professional organizations, the specialty area will promote the independence, acceptance and dignity of all people with significant disabilities.

The school counseling specialization prepares students for endorsement/certification in the state of South à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã.
