Music Clubs and Organizations

Students in classroom at piano

While there is always more practicing to do, students often make their greatest connections while being involved in an extracurricular club or organization. The music program has five active clubs waiting for you to join!

Clubs and organizations are places to contribute above and beyond the classroom, build lifelong friendships and develop leadership skills. Have a look, attend a meeting, join a club and get involved!

National Association for Music Education (NAfME)

NAfME is the professional organization that serves as the leader for music education in the United States. Its more than 60,000 members are persons engaged in teaching music from preschool through college level. Our chapter #796 is one of over 600 campus chapters. All music education students are urged to join. Student members receive Music Educators Journal, Teaching Music and The South à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã Musician.

Music Teachers National Association (MTNA)

MTNA is the oldest music teachers' association in the U.S. and serves primarily private and university music teachers. Student memberships are available through the club. Student members receive The South à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã Music Teacher, which is the publication of the South à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã Music Teachers Association, as well as The American Music Teacher, the national magazine. They can also attend state and national conferences at very low registration rates.

American Choral Directors Association (ACDA)

ACDA’s central purpose is to promote excellence in choral music through performance, composition, publication, research and teaching. All choral students are encouraged to join.

Tau Beta Sigma

Tau Beta Sigma is a co-educational National Honorary Band Sorority dedicated to serving college and band programs. The Sorority numbers 3,000 active members in 140 active chapters and over 40,000 alumni. Tau Beta Sigma operates primarily as a student service and leadership recognition society whose chief aim is to assist the Director of Bands in developing the leadership and enthusiasm that they require of their band. The honorary nature of membership is based on our premise that "it is an honor to be selected to serve"—this band, its music program, its sponsoring institution and the cause of band music in the nation's colleges and universities.
