2019 Woodwinds Day

The School of Performing Arts will be hosting SDSU Woodwind and Brass Day for high school woodwind players on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, on the campus of South à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã State University. This day is dedicated to learning about all things woodwind-related. A variety of topics will be discussed including: tone production, scales, All-State Prep and warm ups. Current SDSU music students will be assisting throughout the day and will lead a discussion of opportunities to stay involved with music during college.

Special guests and events this year will take place due to the group The Queen's Cartoonists performing an evening concert on the night of Tuesday, November 19. All participants and teachers will receive free admission to the evening concert. 

Students grade 9 and up are welcome and they will certainly take away information that will strengthen your band.

Registration Information will be made available in fall 2024.

8:30 a.m. - Registration

9 a.m. - Warmups and fundamentals

9:30 a.m. - All State Prep- scales practice, solo selection, etude and sight-reading (break in between)

11:30 a.m. - Lunch on your own

1 p.m. - Staying Involved in Music with SDSU Students

1:30 p.m. - Ensembles practice

2:45 p.m. - Break

3 p.m. - Final Recital: Faculty, Students and Ensembles
