Concrete testing

Materials and Concrete Laboratory

The materials and concrete laboratory is located in Crothers Engineering Hall. The main function of this laboratory is for the general testing of aggregates and the mixing and testing of fresh and cured concrete.

Equipment

  • Two wheelbarrow concrete mixers
  • One 12 cubic foot concrete mixer
  • Concrete saws
  • Freeze-Thaw Chamber
  • 400,000 pound compression testing machine
  • Aggregate bins
  • Two MTS universal testing machines, located in the Lohr Structures Lab, are used to measure tensile and compressive properties of material coupons and steel bars
